To all of the returning students, welcome back to Tufts! Whether you were abroad last semester or on campus, we are glad to have you in Medford again. As always, the beginning of a new school year is exciting and full of activity. We understand all of the events can be overwhelming and hard to manage. We encourage you to think about the possibility of studying abroad, or if you have just returned from abroad, getting involved with our office.
Are you a freshman and want to hear more about study abroad options?
It is never too early to start thinking about a semester or year abroad. We recommend you meet with a pre-major or major advisor to discuss your academic plan. Whether you are an engineer, pre-med or triple majoring, you can still make a semester abroad work if you plan well! To get started, either attend an in person First Steps Meeting or watch the online modules to familiarize yourself with the process and preparation for studying abroad.
Are you a sophomore or junior interested in going abroad?
The Study Abroad Fair will be held on Wednesday, September 13th from 11 AM – 2 PM in Dowling Hall 745. Along with a table from our office outlining the offered Tufts programs, dozens of providers from around the globe will be present to answer your questions and tell you about their program options.
Once you have completed the First Steps meeting, you may want to meet with an advisor to discuss further. To discern which person you should meet with, please see below.

Back from abroad and want to talk about your experiences?
We love to hear about your experiences abroad! The best way for us to improve our programs and advise other students is by hearing from you through evaluations.
To ease you back into Medford life, please join us for reorientation. You will receive information about registration, advising, and credit from abroad at the reorientation academic advising session.
For students returning from Tufts programs, there will be individual program debriefs to talk directly with members of our office. Keep an eye out on your email for those invitations!
There will also be a welcome back dinner with the Programs Abroad staff and your fellow study abroaders at Dewick – on us! This invitation will also be sent to your Tufts email, don’t miss out on an evening of sharing stories with your classmates!
Back from abroad and want to get involved?
For anyone interesting in sharing their experiences with prospective students, we always welcome returning students to speak on panels, at our informational pizza parties and predeparture meetings. If you are interested in remaining involved in Tufts Programs Abroad, let us know. We would love to have you be part of our events!
